Thanks to everyone who volunteered! We've hit our minimum, and will be supporting the Cabin Fever Ride (April 11). Here's the roster as I have it. Based on availability folks have communicated to me, I've made a stab at assigning folks to routes or locations. Of course, feel free to move folks around as need be.
Dave Mills, KDØAZG - Net Control Joining later: Brian Carter, KCØDWX - Long There are three routes. The links will take you to maps on the Map My Ride web site. Worth noting is that the Medium and Long routes both cross 24 on the outbound leg, but at different points: Flush Rd for the Long and Lake Elbo Rd for the medium. In fact, the Long route will be coming back into Wamego on 24 from the east, then wandering through Wamego, north a bit then actually ON 24 west towards the end of the route. With the traffic on the roads, it could be interesting.
Short Route: Military Trail Road to St. George Elementary, and back mapmyride.com
Medium Route: Continue past St. George, turn north on Lake Elbo Rd to Lake Elbo entrance, and back. mapmyride.com Long Route: Continue past St. George, turning north on Flush Road. Volunteers from all groups are coming together to practice their skills and benefit Manhattan's Green Apple Bikes. The CERT Team will organize the "scene" and perform a grid search for lost/damaged bikes. MAARS volunteers will embed with GAB and CERT to relay found "victims" to the command post and practice accurate message handling. Found bikes will be transported to the command post for repairs and evaluation by the BBHS team.
Orientation at 8 a.m., and get on the road by 8:10. MAARS will assemble at 7:30 a.m. to erect the antenna trailer's tower. It will be the first time for this new piece of equipment to be used. We will operate on 146.550 simplex, and fall back to the MAARS repeater, if necessary.
CERT volunteers, please bring your vests and Go Bags to simulate an event.
GAB volunteers and others with a vehicle equipped with a bike rack are encouraged to bring them. We expect to field 3-4 search teams. Questions? E-mail me, Jon Klimek, jt.klimek@gmail.com.
FCC LICENSE TEST SESSION – CLAY CENTER
FCC LICENSE TEST SESSION – CLAY CENTER December 2021

We will use the MAARS repeater. The exercise is open to all hams and CERT members. We are joining forces with the Greek houses on campus for their National Day of Service. We will get the opportunity to operate a command operation and direct search operations with civilian and radio-equipped volunteers. Net Control will manage the search, and coordinate radio traffic and text/voice traffic from civilians.
We will have two Net Control Operators, and at least one assistant. The assistant will monitor Text Free and plot reports on the map, while the operators will direct and record results from tha
The exercise should conclude by 12, and we can debrief for lunch. Vehicles with bike racks, pickups and anyone with a trailer is welcome.
Available operators who can join us Sunday are welcome to post to the MAARS ListServe, or e-mail Jon direct at jt.klimek@gmail.com
This just in on Nov. 1: Green Apple Bikes will provide food and beverages.
We base our classes on the W5YI training curriculum. We recommend you get (buy or borrow) a current W5YI training manual for the license class(es) you are interested in. We do have a limited number available for purchase at class time, or look for them on Amazon.com.

================================================================================= MAARS MONTHLY MEETING KEATS PARK
We need to setup a portable station. David Mills, KDØAZG, is working on an antenna, and looking for a tripod of some sort to be able to get it up in the air to help us around the buildings downtown. Worst case scenario, we abandon simplex and use the repeater locally.
Laurie Harrison has agreed to get us sheets that the county uses for the EOC to keep track of message traffic, a large map for command and hand out maps for the search units. We will have a corresponding message log to compare after action how accurate the messages were relayed and copied. Just remember that the messages need to be numbered so they can be tracked, that could be vital in a true emergency. Maps will have a simple grid system to identify search areas.

Thanks to everyone who supports our club, meetings and nets. It wouldn't be much of an organization and net without You.
If you know of a place we may wish to try, please e-mail me at jt.klimek@gmail.com.
